When you work with new filters it will take about 6-8 weeks till they work properly, so we recommend to check the water quality every day, especially the nitrite levels.
Clean water should have zero ammonia and zero nitrite levels. Elevated nitrate levels indicate a need for water changes. High nitrate levels inhibit growth and colour development in discus.
